Default ipod solution for 997?

What is the best solution for being able to connect an ipod in a 997?

WHen will Porsche offer a factory/dealer solution?

Most of us seem to be using the Dension Gateway 500. I am mostly happy with it myself. Most of its shortcomings come from the PCM and the ability to integrate with its controls.

I think an argument could be made that the best solution is to burn MP3 CD's and use those for your music source.

Best solution is listen to the engine's sound track and not bother with the stereo

Gotta agree that is a nice sound.
Sometimes I wish there was an OEM iPod solution because I might use it. I do have a few MP3 CDs I carry in the glove box but I find myself either listening to the engine or radio/news.

As for the OP's comment, I think most (no pun intended) people have used the Dension solution (PM EricBumperPlugs for details) and a few have used DICE. As you probably know, the FM transmitters are not a great solution.

Can you you burn MP3 CD's from itunes? I am totally ignorant on this. I have an ipod, but I always thought the songs in itunes were a different format and could not be burned to MP3 cd's. Is that correct or can it be done with little work?

Default itunes

itunes will let you convert to a non drm form some of your library. for a fee, of course. they will also sell you mp3 format songs from EMI studios now,

Also, Google QTFairuse and follow the links to the forum. there is an instructional on how to use this program to strip the drm out of your protected Itunes songs..it works, I can tell you. the link is hymn-project.org

It can be done with little work,--no fees involved. It extends the utility of the player inthe car significantly,--by a factor of about 9!

Does our radio read ID3 tags? If so, I think it also has a DVD player, so one should rather burn a DVD with MP3s on it.

+1. DVD drive is in the front boot if you have Navi, and it's only for Navi.

Anyone ripping to MP3 at 320k data rate? If yes, have you had success playing these files in the 911?

I have 60+ Gb of MP3s ripped at 320k, non-joint stereo. I can transcode to a lower datarate, but I'd prefer not to...

Yes, you can easily burn cd's from Itunes. Create the playlist and click burn cd. Just did a couple in 5 minutes and played them in the Pcar. I also have the Dennison v. 2.03 and it works great and holds the play settings now. Dennison was playing from ipod and then I inserted cd. PCM quickly changed to single cd mode and played cd. Ejected cd and Dennison resumed operation.

Hi,

Click on the go shopping bar and you will get the price of the i-pod
hardware. This company advertises in the PCA magazine.

MP3 cd's (or when played from a connected ipod) at 320k play just fine, like any other. That's the rate I use, too.
