Carfax Request

Jim, I did not know this was against RL terms. It definitely should not be. RL is a community and part of the community is members helping out other members. But I apologize, I did not know it was against RL Policy.
Pirahna, I am not asking for them all the time. If I were considering cars being sold privately, then yes I would pay the money for unlimited Carfax's. But my situation necessitates that I look mostly at cars at dealerships and most dealerships can provide you with a carfax themselves as both a sales tactic and to establish a relationship and trust with you. I happen to find a car that I'm somewhat interested in at a dealer that does not provide them. Again, see my post above about "community".
Was this a statement about me not being a RL member or about saving Carfax membership fees?
If it is the former, all you need to do is look at my past posts and see that I'm an active member here on RL and provide a lot of good content for other users. Some people donate monetarily and others donate their time. I choose do contribute to RL with my time and provide USEFUL information to other users. Without people like myself who are willing to do that, it would be a wasteland of non-stop advertisements. I have also contributed quite extensively to 6speed as well as Pelican. So, without people like myself, IB doesn't sell space to their advertisers which is what really accounts for how they make their money.
If your statement was about saving on Carfax membership fees, I see nothing wrong with that. If I was a dealership or broker, then that would definately be low-brow. But I'm a consumer who only needs to use it once or twice and don't think there's anything wrong with asking for help from the Porsche community that I've contributed to extensively.
Thank you to those who supported me, I didn't think a simple request to help a fellow Porsche enthusiast would be such a polarizing discussion. I guess it's a slow news day huh?
Go here, enter credit card number and your done. Nobody likes a cheapskate.

You can get SOME CarFax info for free with the MyCarFax smartphone app. Try it. All you need is the VIN or current liscense plate number. Won't tell you everything, but will tell you some stuff like maintenance history and any outstanding recalls.

thanks for the support and having my back. I appreciate it. In reality, RL really is a great community and usually free of all the drama that the Boyracer forums all have. So if this is the biggest drama of the day, I'd say we're in pretty good shape!

i agree and in spite of my own occasional missteps(!?) and love of, ( and frequent participation in ) "online dramedy" ... I'm also here to learn, as well as share what tidbits of usually useful info i may have picked up over the years, in the spirit of the "community".
it's really that "fake" outrage, coupled with sanctimonious umbrage, is a pet peeve of mine. so i call out injustice and hypocrisy when and where i see it.
so, i hope someone runs that vin for you. cheers.
