Default Clutch replacement

Well at today's event I was able to confirm (unfortunately) that I need a clutch.

What are you guys seeing as far as pricing to do a clutch install?

It is really interesting that this clutch lasted as long as it did. It has all the FVD stuff and at 84k needs a clutch. Not bad for a stock clutch with added HP.

I paid 1500 for stage 3 clutch and flywheel install, the fluid was also replaced. This was a pretty reasonable price, I also got a quote for 5200, which included a brand new flywheel, but I provided bolts clutch throw out.

the shop i use has a tilton clutch twin or triple disk. eliminates the entire slave setup so say goodbye to failed parts in the future! hydraulic throwout bearing in place of the slave. the clucth includes a steel flywheel and the hydraulic t/b 2500$ for the twin and 2700$ for the triple. capable of holding 1000 ft/lbs torque! zero chatter and feels like a c/f or triple disk should feel with repeatable engagemnet point. the hydraulic t/b uses the guide tube mounting holes so theres zero modifications needed to the bellhousing to install

you are well aware that the slave will eventually go again. with the tilton this is no lnger an issue . gone forever. think of the price of a sachs 2.5 with flywheel and the cost to replace a slave WHEN that unit fails. about the same in the end as the cost of the tilton. labor is the same no matter what clutch you install.

What kind of HP does your car have? I sell the SACHS 2.5 clutch kit and also use it in my car, let me know and I can give you a quote on it.

It is spec'd at 580. I do not have a Dyno to back that up though.

I think the Sachs 2.5 would be perfect for you.

Whats the longevity like for this Tilton setup? The reason I ask is because I had Tilton triple carbon on my Supra and it lived a very short life and needed an expensive rebuild.. Held ton of power so great for race car, but for street driving it was a huge let down. I loved the setup, how fast the engine revved and how lightweight it was... But the mileage thing was a killer for such a pricey item. It didn't even last a year and had maybe 5000-6000 miles.

obviously that completely depends on how you drive it. if you drive it like i do 5000 is a greta amount. moderate drivers will get more time.

the rebuild kit is less than 1000$ and doesnt require the trans to be dropped otu. simply slide it back and tilt it on a trans jack and pull the p/p and disks out replace them.

i spent 800 on oem sachs parts along with a slightly grippier sachs g2 disc. i want back/forth on that sachs 2.5 & 964 disc?) and decided i didn't need it. i am easy on my clutches ( i still dbl shift!! ( when i can! )

i rented a lift for approx 300 bucks and my buddy installed it in a about 3 hours cant remember. it's been flawless. i do NOT drop or launch. its a porsche, not a chevy nova and my previous clutch with hybrids 16/24 and some bolt on bits etc lasted exactly 100 k miles. it never slipped ONCE!

Aren't you the guy who was worried about installing a sprintbooster?
