So, if you don't have an Air Compressor go buy a Harbor Freight Pancake Compressor with Coupon

Now, After you have a compressor your going to want a good way to test the system. Many people use pressure testers and they work pretty good but sometimes locating a small leak can be extremely frustrating.

I personally think that a Smoke Test is the best way to do it but a good tester will run you around $1500.

So, how can you smoke test your own car for cheap?

Simple... Buy this.. http://www.sears.com/craftsman-porta...p-00916707000P

That or any similar gun will allow you to smoke test your car so long as you have a compressor.

The first thing your going to want to do is remove your airbox + Maf housing.

Then you simply need to find something around your house that will fit in the intake pipe that can be used to seal it off. Things like Cups/Cans/Jar/Poster Caps/PVC Cap something you own will fit the hole and allow you to cap it off.

Then drill a hole (when its out of the car!) that you can run a line from the tip of the sand blaster nozzle to the cap you just made/found.

Go to store and buy your least expensive cigarette or just bum a pack from your one buddy who can't kick the habbit.

Stick the cigarette into the feed line (where sand is suppose to go into the sandblaster gun) and light it. Pull Trigger and witness your extremely cheap and extremely effective smoke tester in action.

Keep a pair of needle nose around so you can swap out cigarettes if you need to.

P.S. Works best if you don't give it full trigger just a little will do you.

If anyone is interested I can make a Video but I am pretty lazy.

two ways:
1. remove the pressure feed line, apply ~15psi to the wastegate actuator
2.grab the wastegate actuator rod and give it a good pull away from the actuator(vacuum/pressure pot)

So you have pressure tested you intake system? Results were??? Fill in the blanks _____

Have you pressure tested your Fuel pressure?? Results were _____

Have you checked your wastegate linkage??? Results were______

If you aren't capable to do the required tests then you might need to have your car checked out by a Dealer or Independent Porsche specialist.

Fishey, I think that you need to re-think what you just posted.

If the "line" was loose "what would the result be"????

Lol, touche that was not what I wanted to say. I ment to say the valve could be bad. I don't see it a lot on 9996tt but the piersburg valves on volvo go bad all the time and give reduced boost output. I was thinking about a problem I had with inconsistent over boost on a car and thought about about a possible bad valve. Regardless, moral of this story is don't poop and post.
