Car with very recent Type 2 over rev in history
#31
I think the logged over revs actually underestimate actual over revs by quite a bit. According to my DME I have 900+ type 2s which is about 3 seconds over 7250. My car redlines at 7500 and I have seen close to 7600 numerous times on data logs, much more than 3 seconds would indicate. I certainly have way more than the 3000+ (10 seconds worth) of type 1s (over 6750). I honestly don't think the over rev information is very reliable.

i agree, though once a car is tuned and the rev limiter raised. over revs are going to be inaccurate, i would think.

were you able to use the same dme for your 3.8 build and given the rev limiter was already raised to 7200 as is mine ( 75k now? nice ! ) ...or do you think most of the type 2's occurred and got logged while you were still with the "un"built motor?

Over revs are strictly RPM dependent irrespective whether the engine is stock, modified, or fully built.

^ understood, thanks.
rhetorical question.. I bet someone could put that to use that old ruf dme even if it had those numbers logged!
unless the write protection they do is vin dependent etc. whatever lol. thanks.

The RUF DME along with the RUF K24 hybrids, RUF clutch, and RUF exhaust were sold and went to a good home.

I'm not sentimental and the RUF parts have a lot of value. I have sold just about all the RUF parts off the car including the wheels, suspension and brakes to one individual who is a real RUF fanatic and I look forward to seeing the parts on one of his car in the future. The only RUF parts left on my car are the front bumper, mirrors and the rest of the interior pieces along with the RUF intake on the engine. I have 10+ set of tires in my basement with countless rotors, pads, and other Porsche parts. It's had for me to justify thousands of $$ of part collecting dust in boxes knowing that I would not ever be reinstalling them on the car. The RUF turbos / ECU for example could never be reinstalled on my car as they are optimized for a stock 3.6 block and my car is a built 3.8. As such they really have no connection to the car anymore. I don't plan on selling my car and if I ever do it will be to someone looking for a no holds barred street legal track car so I doubt they will miss the RUF parts. Just my $0.02..

Thanks. I've always tried to stick with OEM parts and not make the car into a hodge podge of aftermarket parts which rarely measure up to factory parts. I feel that Porsche knows how to do it right..

I put in a brand new DME at the beginning of 2014 when I removed the RUF turbos and RUF DME. I was installing Kevin's UMW turbos and had to install a new DME as the RUF one was write protected and could not be flashed. The RUF DME had 30000+ type 1s and 3500+ type 2s. The RUF redline was 7200.

Although they are seriously suspect, as my most recent Type 1 is more than 200 hours older than my most recent Type 2.
