Best 996 Turbo Exhaust Opinions?
#16
x50/S = same exhaust nothing different, i had an x50 car once. the kline 2.5 is a bit louder running catless but its the difference in power vs w/ cats, its significant.
no change in sound vis a vis turbo spool.
i thought 2.5k was relatively INexpensive for a new exhaust system? but it's in the ballpark i guess. good luck, you'll love it if you get one.

as for me, i haven't given "wholly" over to the dark side lol but i fear i will never again drive this as a dd or in any "anticipated" traffic. it's just over that "line" a taste

1. is this a DIY?.....my 993TT was largely DIY in exhaust.
2. ECU and cats? what did you do for the CEL/ECU
3. I haven't decided bewteen proto and UMW for tune but I'm sure both can write cat-less into the tune....correct?....think so.
4. do you know whats in the Klein cans? is it a chambered muffler (like a Flowmaster) or is there packing inside (like Magnaflow)?
Thanks
Joe

Thanks again yes I'm looking into the Klein and test pipe w/o cats largely based on your powerful endorsement. In the sound clips they appear have the lowest bass IMO....hard to achieve in these water cooled boxers. More questions please:

ecu was throwing 02 cels after decat. switched out 02's with some others that were lying around ( literally ) free and 30 min swap. no more cels.
my tune cargraphic 1.2 for my hybrid 16/24's runs catless without issue. the ecu just adapted instantly once the 02's were replaced with new(er) ones. hah. i doidnt even buy new 02's. what a cheap mf'r i am. lol
it was a concern however that i WOULD need to retune but that has not been the case at all. its perfect, and i mean perfect. 127k miles btw
dont know what inside excpet the 200 cel cats, which I've removed with a decat pipe setup from kline made for this purpose.
hope this helps. yes, my ringing endorsement is no BS and will ring true. guaranteed!
my seat of the pants a** dyno says at LEAST 40 maybe even higher rwhp increase just from decatting

I've been considering the Europipe, many guys recommend it but, emailed them and they don't do the stage 2 loud anymore, besides...it would be too loud for the X50 cars according to Europipe.

I don't know, didn't ask but he said this:
"An X50 sounds louder compared to a regular 996 Turbo because of its bigger size K24 turbochargers. The big turbochargers create a lot of droning as well and droning is always a big issue on 996 Turbo aftermarket exhausts.
Our current exhaust is quiet in traffic ( zero turbo boost ) but loud when you step on it. The turbo boost goes up once you push the gas pedal deeper and that’s the moment that you’ll hear the whistling sound of the turbochargers. There is also a barking sound when you release the throttle and there is no droning at all.
The emphasis is on tone quality, it sounds like a Porsche and not like some loud car"

My EP Stage 2 Loud increases in loudness as a function of RPM, even at 0.0 bar. It really starts coming alive at ~3500 RPM, and just gets better as the RPM increases, even at a steady state partial throttle (and zero boost).
It's actually not loud enough for my tastes below ~3500 RPM, but overall I still love the exhaust.

Can check out a great amount of performance exhausts that we offer here so you can read a bit about them.

I went from B & B 3" race exhaust to Europipe stage II loud to EB Werks no cats x pipe, very loud but love the sound from inside the car, when I get tired of the noise I'll put my EP back on. Guess it depends on what sound your looking for. I get tons of thumbs up and head turns even driving easy. Also depends on your whole car setup, larger 3071's will be a lot different sound from 16's.

Why would you buy a reworked used stock exhaust?? Versus buying a used performance exhaust..
Like a used Europipe or Milltek or ???
