Hello guys,

Just picked up an 01 Turbo. Previously had a 00 C2. Excited to get going on the big stuff with it but I've been fixing the things the PO neglected to do first.

Congrats! Maintenance is always the best way to go before any modifications. Definitely a +1 on the good move. Let me know if you have any questions about any Fabspeed products. I'd love to help! We have a great product line up for the 996T.

Thanks man. it has a slight oil leak and I need to re-boot the front axles. It also has an occasional cold start timing chain tensioner rattle.

Looks like you removed the front bumperettes. Were there holes in the bumper? I've done a bunch of research but it seems like some people claim there are holes in the bumper after removing them and others say there weren't. I'm planning on taking mine off, but would like to know the scoop before tearing into it.

I was stuck in the same boat and learned the hard way! I'm going to be doing a full write up on it soon. Basically the answer is no. You can pop 02 grills in there just fine but once you remove the tabs you're left with this:

Definitely not my first choice but it's really growing on me! It's really unique.

Really? I work for a dealership in Tampa and one of the techs was kind of concerned about it. Also...as weird as this seem the oil leak appears to be the rear main seal. It was recently serviced before I purchased the car so I haven't tried changing the oil. You suggest synthetic 5W50?

Of course the oil leak should be repaired and rear main seals are not uncommon either. Yes synthetic 5-50 I use 0-40 now but might give 5-50 a try myself= I use Mobil-1. My car does not rattle at start up but have heard many that do, others will chime in on issue or use search.

Interesting. I had heard that the RMS was common on the NA cars but not on the turbo cars. I'll have to give the oil change a try. The rattle is literally for a few seconds and then it's like it tightens up and goes away.

Not really as common as I far as I know but you do hear about people having rms leaks= of course there are a lot more NA compared to Turbos. How many miles on your car?
