Default PPI in Chicago

Happy New Year all!!
I am looking for a great Porsche shop, in Chicago, that would be able to do a thorough PPI on a 2004 GT3. I believe car is in the Downtown/Hancock Center area. thanks, Tom

More local would be Chicago Performance & Tuning. Who is currently servicing the car?

Fischer is a good rec.

Thanks guys!! I really appreciate it!
It looks like the car has been to Auto-Boutique Chicago?? Do you know anything about this shop?
I called Chicago Performance and talked with Al. He seems to know the GT3s and it looks like he supports
several Porsche race cars. Will let you know how things go! Thanks again! Tom

If it doesn't work out there, check out Fisher's, real Porsche shop.

Took a couple of pictures for reference last time I was there.

We wrench on our own p cars unless we don't have enough time, then they go to fishers for anything!

This is a reference for anyone needing a ppi or real work done in Chicago area in the future.

Anytime.

I have not heard of them. You're in good hands with Al, and the added benefit CP&T was not the current shop doing maaintenance. So, they are an unbiased, 3rd party. That's what you want in a PPI.

Al is a good guy, and I would recommend him too. Glad you found him. Sorry I'm late to the thread.

Thanks! Fischers was a great place as well!! Trying to stay as close to the seller as possible.
Any pearls of wisdom concerning the GT3 would be appreciated. I see the cooling tubes need to be "pinned". That was news to me. What does that run$$$. I heard something about the LSD??
Have been an "air-cooled" guy for 30 years, even had a 1973 Carrera RS touring that I sold way too early!!!
I am sure we all can sing that song! Tom

This is how far you have to take the motor down to weld fittings with heat exchanger fittings.

i don't know pinning but probably much simpler. If nothing else it affords you the opportunity to change out all the rubber hoses and traditional wear items at 1 time.

Check suspension components, I replaced most of mine last year because of age and excess movement in bushings.

Diff will likly need rebuild unless its just been serviced.

Air cooled cars are great but but totally different experience. Mine is my daily in the summer!

Gadsby-Thanks! Are you wrenching that engine?
that looks pretty daunting!!
The GT3 I am looking at has around 36K miles on it.
Seems to be in great condition with 3M clear bra on the entire front section. Seller looking for $72K.
What do you guys think about pricing on the 2004/05 cars?
I need to see what service history there is, i.e...asked and waiting to hear. thanks again, Tom

Yes do all my own work for the most part. It's like my break from work and family obligations.

Shout out to Andy (Audion19's) for advice and suppport when I consider diving in! Andy and Mooty always have great gt3 insight!

Pricing is relative. Sounds about right. Years ago I looked at a friends 13k mile tracked preped gt3 for 60k and passed, built for track but not driven, now that car is worth a ton! Prep was by fall-line, no expense spared. He switched to BMW, has too many cars, race cars too.

When you fix something just like the air cooled cars, fix it once fix it right. Last winter I did the 911sc.

Good luck on the ppi.

Had my coolant tubes welded along with other discussed upgrades done in OH last spring. Cost for coolant tube welding was around $2500. Agree wholeheartedly with requesting advice/insight from Andy (Audion19s). Incredible knowledge and capability. Not a bad driver also

My list for while your in there for parts alone was $3500, less the actual welding. Replace all orings and rubber, even injector orings, and scavage pump orings. My own labor of course.

Results? Did you buy?
