Hoosier R6 vs. R7
#16
For those who have clearance issues, how much negative camber are you running?
I just bolted on a set of R7s and am scheduled for a 2 day DE next week on a track with banked corners. They are noticeably wider. I ran square Kuhmos last year and had rubbing on the fronts and am thinking I'll get a different set of tires for this track. Would be awful if I can't run.

Wow, this thread is growing with the issue of the squarer shoulder shape of the R7. You'll see in my earlier post I raised couple comments. Well I just eliminated the tire rub issues with a few adjustments. Ride height and camber I have learned are key variables. I have installed R7 245/40-18 and 315/30-18. I was expecting the rear to be an issue... no problem. The front I ran BFG 245/40 and no rub issues. Now the R7 245/40 and definite unacceptable rubbing. I had rolled the fender well some but the contact was near the side marker light not rolled. I rolled the fender another inch or so. Then raised the ride in the front about 10 mm. Camber is not heavy track but only 2.8 negative. Now I have no tire wheel well contact and actually can start dialing down the ride height.... I think about 5 mm will bring back to a acceptable height. The handling of the car on the street has not changed with these adjustments.

Seems like the R7's will be in PIA unless car adjustments are made. My car is lowered and I have a lot of camber. I need to pull the trigger in a few days and if I can get a set of R6's I will probably go that direction than having to worry about making car adjustments.

I'm thinking that when my car is lowered a bit again and a little more track camber added that the 245/35 will work vs. 245/40... From Comp Motor Sport input earlier in this thread many more of the 6t3 folks are running the /35....
