Default How to remove a dent in carb hadtop

Has anyone removed a small ding in a 996 removable hardtop? I have one the size of a quarter. I was thinking of using one of those crossbar dent repair tools.

I agree with LexVan, if you haven't fooled with this kind of thing, I'd suggest finding a local Paintless Dent Removal technician. Usually they charge about $100 per ding. When you say a "Crossbar repair tool" are you talking about a glue-pull kit? Glue pulling is relatively safe, but can leave a small bump because they pull from the outside. A PDR technician pushes the ding out by tapping from the opposite side of the dent, which is a better method.

a good pdr guy will do both. some don't like pushing at all so resort to glue pulling and use their body hammers to knock it down. it also depends on the accessibility of the dent.

I prefer glue pulling and knocking it down with a hammer.

I used a PDR service on my RDX. Had a deep door ding on a body line. Best $125 I ever spent! No sign that it was ever there. Came to my work and did it in the parking lot.

Sorry for the delay in a reply - first real chance. Thanks for all the info! I'm going to call around for a PDR pro. I did one glue pull with OK results (another car) - not perfect. If I can't find someone local I may give it a try.
