It's snowing foam
I show up for a DE and with my typical karma (I must of raped the nuns and orphans before I lit the bus on fire and pushed it off the cliff) it rained all weekend. For the first time since I've owned the car, I had to use the front defroster and when set to high, I was getting a constant shower of black bits of foam insulation.
Where is this coming from and is there anyway I can get to it to remove what is left?
I will say the DE was highly educational as I had to be very smooth with all inputs to keep it on the track at speed.

HVAC on many cars are sealed with a foam insulation [doors, joints etc] they dry up and can come out of outlets..........no biggee to live with it. as far as a DE in the rain.....it is real street life learning

This happens more often to cars that live in hot, humid environments. After the majority of the foam finishes disintegration your next post will be "I'm freezing/melting" "My heat/air conditioning doesn't work". There are multiple repair posts on this, search is your friend.

This started happening with my 997 a few years ago and it seems to be quite common with that model. Sticky foam bits spewing out of all the dash vents. I kept a pair of long nosed tweezers in the glove box to pluck out the pieces that got stuck behind the louvers. Kept up for a couple years until, I assume, all of it was gone. Living in a hot climate I never use heat or defrost, and I'm still getting plenty of cold A/C air so I haven't felt the need to pay a couple grand to have the dash removed to replace the foam. The only ill effect I can see is the diverter flap no longer completely seals, so there's always some cold air coming out the defroster outlets, which causes the outside of the windshield to fog up when it's especially humid out. I halfway solved that with Rain-X which seems to shed the condensation quickly as soon as the car is under way.
