Cabrio top won't go down
The day started out just fine; 60+ degrees, sun shining, only a short "honey do" list, but...the top would not retract.
When I push the dash button in, I hear a faint relay clicking sound as the dash light goes on steady red, and then starts blinking, and finally extinguishes completely. (All windows had been lowered in anticipation of top down motoring.)
Any thoughts/remedies will be appreciated...kind of hate the idea of taking it to the dealer and saying "Please fix it".

+1 it happened to me when I just got my cab...I went to RAC in Dallas to have them take a look at my non-opening soft top then 2 min later they came out and said "all set, you are good to go, your rear engine lid was not fully latched, no charge". I felt so dump but relieved, great guys... But I should have checked here first before going to RAC, lesson learned.
PO, check your rear boot first before doing anything else. Cheers,

Wait! Wait! Don't tell me!
Well, both frisbee91 and Botsy67 hit the nail on the head...my engine compartment lid was unlatched. (See pg. 98 of owner's manual.)
Geez, just when I thought I understood my 996 thoroughly. Oh, well...
