Looking for reputable recommendations in chicago for a 2000 996 PPI.

I took mine to Midwest Eurosport 104 W Irving Park Rd, Bensenville, IL.

They charged $100 for the PPI. They will also do an oil change for the going rate ($130ish) to check for particles in the oil filter for the IMS bearing issue. (Their website has a $50 off oil/filter change until 2/29).

There are several guys there that are quite knowledgable and take the time to explain whats what. (Brian and Roy are two names that come to mind). I had initially taken the first car there for PPI, and they found a bunch of stuff wrong from rust, repainted body, bent rims etc. I did not even let them finish the PPI, they only charged me for the time spent on it.

The second and my current car got a PPI (Post Purchase Inspection) as I made a good deal and last owner had a lot of records etc. I am happy with these guys.

I was going to use Midwest Performance Cars for the PPI until the seller flaked out. They took time to go over what they do, offered me plenty of info and suggestions. I felt very comfortable talking with Jonathan and he tried to make things as smooth as possible, even dealing with the flake who was selling the car.

Depending on the model (all the water pumpers, for example) Napelton would be just fine. Send a PM to Rennlister "Certz" he knows/uses a guy in the Westmont area for his cars and race prep.

I looked at the Carfax report on one of the cars I'm looking at an it shows the car has been service at The Exchange fairly regularly. Any issues with simply having it checked out at the Exchange since they seem to have history with this car?

That's a bit of a no-no. A little conflict of interests. If you are in a bind, maybe do it. Loeber Motors it pretty close in the same area. Have them do the PPI, since they will be a more un-biased 3rd party.
