Default Sport Design Wheels, Dismantled, Polished, Painted?

So I manage to get a set of OEM sport design wheels to use for the track...
9x18 et52 and 10x18 et65. Not sure what tires to mount just yet... the idea is to get rid of some of the push I get during turns...

I got it apart by using an 8mm tri-square, 12 point bit that I got at Pepp Boys. It came as a set of 4, 4mm,6mm8mm10mm for $12. Once I got it apart, I polished the lip using 400, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit sandpaper. It is in mirror finiished. As for the center spokes.... Im thinking of painting it black since it will pop against the mirror lip and the titanium screws that hold it the the rims.... what do you think? Or the classic silver is also very nice....

here are some pics of it dismantled.... gonna torque her down to 12ft/ilbs with some blue loctite.

your car is black? Anything will work. I'd be really tempted to rattle can them a bright yellow, orange or other bright, racey and contrasting color. If you didn't like it, it could easily be removed.

Really? Im gonna have to look into this....

got it.... 180deg pattern, starting at 12, 6, 9 and 3 o:clock. Torque them down to half. Once all the bolts are on, torque to full setting again at staggered pattern.

How about the Gunmetal Color you see on Nissan GT-R. The polished lip, did you have any nicks that need filled?

Black or silver will look great.

Did I read somewhere that you should not resuse those titanium wheel bolts?
I thought they are a one time use item.

gunmetal sounds like the way to go.... not to dark, not to light.... had scratches but not very deep, no filler needed. You really have to get a deep gouge to not able to sand them down.... sanding does wonders, but these were not bad at all.... almost new in fact.

+1... though I love silver wheels, I hate the brake dust.

was it another wheel or the sports design or that is a general statement? Ive read here that you can re-use them as long as it is not stripped.

I would go with black. It reminds me of the Fuchs that I had on the '86 Carrera. The lips were mirror polished. 7's on front 9's on back. They were be-utiful when they were clean.
