Default Good news for fellow Targa owners

Just came back from the dealer and he told me that Prosche is resuming production of Targa tops and parts through the Porsche Classic program.
Also he said that there are a dozen or so complete roof assemblies currently available to be shipped from Germany.

Need a roof? Talk to your dealer!

Great news. I have had the two long plastic cover strips on back order since before last Christmas. Has the roof off, all rust issues sorted and the mechanism overhauled and a service kit put in to replace various bits of the old mechanism. I did post up on here when I was trying to track down the missing bits.

Saw your posts over at 911uk & have been following. Looks great & good luck with the finish.

I hope to redo some parts of my top & also in need of the roof strips.

So, where you able to source the roof strips, or are you still waiting for them?

The availability of those parts is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to remove the top panel for maintenance.

I have not. I'm not ready to do it yet, so I haven't tried too hard.

Don't have any pictures and couldn't find any on google. I'm talking about that black mesh that only partially blocks the sun under the retractable targa top. Or as I like to call it 'a desert crossing bald guys worst nightmare'.

haha, I am thinking about how bad that has to be here in AZ, are you in the Phoenix area too? As for the mesh, my shade is solid like some type of black vinyl, not made of a mesh.

When I replaced my entire roof in 2006 (Porsche paid for it) I think the price from Sunset at that time was $24,000 or so. All I know is it was a "holy f**k" price!

I should ask Sunset.

Cheers,

Mike
