Can anyone confirm what the housing is made from?

I just rebuilt mine and I'm having a tough time getting a good glue bond. Don't bother with Permatex Plastic Weld, the stuff has a useless working time and starts curing before you can get it fully mixed and applied.

I have a hunch the case halves are ABS, and was considering using ABS Pipe glue (i.e. the yellow plumbing glue).

I use two-component epoxy glue, have fixed many of these now with very good results.

My first attempt failed using a generic 2 part epoxy. I then used Loctitie 495 as recommended in the pcar site write-up. After one year the re-glue it remains intact.

Maybe a little lighter on the hardener compound?

...But I do like and use the Loctite 2 part epoxy plastic repair compound.
