Amazing moments & memories happen when visiting Monterey, CA for car events -- a nucleus of common-minded enthusiasts not found at the same time anywhere else.
The following is a Porsche press release. I asked someone who may have personal experiences with its content to consider sharing RRV memories here, with emphasis on the 'reunion' aspect.
From porsche.com's "The world’s fastest class reunion" article:
Hans-Joachim Stuck’s favourite car at the Rennsport Reunion was one of the few that fans did not get the chance to admire on the Laguna Seca circuit. The Porsche 962 in which he won the Sebring 12-hour race with Bob Akin and Jo Gartner in 1986 is just being rebuilt. “That victory was one of the milestones of my career,” he said and was obviously impressed by the great atmosphere and enthusiasm at the Rennsport Reunion. “The cars you see here are just amazing. They’re all in incredible condition. And the best thing is that I’ve contested races in many of them.”

This year he joined Jacky Ickx to serve as co-Grand Marshals for the event.
...& drove a "Very Special Porsche 918 Spyder" to the track:

At the Concours on Pit Lane this 550 Spyder was picked for the "Detlev von Platen Favorite" award.
Von Platen, former CEO of Porsche Cars North Amerca, then drove it with his daughter for celebratory laps on the track.
"Former" ^^ because he was promoted Oct 1 to Executive Board member for Sales and Marketing.
...extra reason to celebrate

My brother took 1000s of pics. If he posts them on the 996 board, I'll be sure to link them here.
Matt ^^ Fun meeting you and your brother at FD Motorsport's gathering!
^^ Hope Scott doesn't think it too snobbish to link them here
