The 'extra threading' on the front HD's is/was generally an extension to the lower end of the strut of ~25mm vs the original Bilstein production ..... it permits setting the ride height lower with such things as euro MO30 springs: I'm not sure if this helps the OP's query, but I had extra threads cut on my HD's to achieve that result , as reported in this thread.

If I understand your question correctly, to my knowledge the highest setting is the same. Gert's B6 has extra threading at the bottom only. If you want factory tall ride height, go with Bilstein black shocks, B4 ( I think).

Default B6 Ride Height

Heres a Pic of My B6 Bilstein HD Strut with ROW carrera S Springs.
I think the car can go Lower.

Here is a Pic of the car 2nd - see ride height. Car sits about 1 Inch or say 30 - 40 CM above tires.

Now the HD Strut is often described as a Highway setup.
With the ROW Spring I found the car ALMOST Too Stiff, at first on City Roads - They are Not Great Roads!

Bilstein advised the HD Strut is set up for 80% of drivers - in my case if I had known may have considered a Re-valve.

If you are Tracking i would recomend, at Minimum PSS10 or Better
hope that helps?

TJ
ps - send me a PM if Pics are not viewable

thx ... but first pic ... cannot see ... very unclear ! !

if you find stiff ... you may have M030 . you can try M033 for comfort .

also hope you mean " MM " ... not " CM " ! !

I SAID CM AND Meant CM
i like my car the way it is.
Was Too Stiff originally with ROW Springs and Bilstein HD struts.

She rides just above 1 inch or just more than 30CM

f1ava -- I had this idea too, but you can't do it. The strut body above the threads has too small a diameter (similar diameter as the bottom of the threads).

If it was the same diameter as the top of the threads, then the lock collars couldn't be installed.
