Thanks for your question.

A number of us have now installed Conti radios in our 993's and the results have been more than satisfactory AFAIK. Search Rennlist for "Continental radio" and read other posts and my installation thread. Perhaps others will post their experiences to this thread.

Conti radios do not have "line out" circuitry, which means that a line out converter (LOC) must be used for a power amp. Also, installation of the radio requires some engineering in a factory M490 HiFi option car if you want to avoid chopping-up the factory harness. See my installation thread.

The best endorsement of Conti radios comes from a frequent poster to this board, ToreB, who now sells them through his BergvillFx website. For a cost of $140 for the non-CD version, it's the best deal out there. And he also offers accessories to make installation easier. Recall that Tore sells the best HID conversion for our cars in my opinion, so if it's good for Tore, it's good for me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jansan, I found your install thread and will contact Tore about a purchase.

All the best,

There is a cdr220 on Craigslist in the San Francisco area with the 993 viewing modification. $225. Great deal. Easy swap out of the cd210 stereo that was in most of the 993s. I hsve one in my 993. Very happy with it. No affiliation. Thanks. Phil

96 993 cab. Black on black on black.
