Bought a 993...sort of.

Mr. Ireland just introduced himself on the 997 forum with a topic on spare tires and his new 997. Maybe the intent is to spread his wisdom on all three forums to entertain (or offend) a larger unsuspecting audience……..

Pix with seller's permission...the 03 996 interior is much better, cleaner and classier...otherwise I'm impressed with the tiptronic and the steering is much lighter on this 997. And on the awful Los Angeles streets the adjustable suspension does help. This weekend I'll go up to Muholland Drive for a full shake down.

Maybe you should take in some of the history here, and then understand the context in which most of these posts are made.

I know I'll offend some of you, but if I had $50K to drop on a car, I'd still buy mine and keep the other half. I didn't buy it for it to appreciate in value, I bought it to enjoy it. Also, having an older "special" car requires that special buyer and it's not always easy to off load unless you have all the time in the world.

How much did your '15 Macan cost, exactly? Why didn't you buy a $25K SUV? Why do you feel that 993 is a "special" car that we buy for "appreciation" instead of driving and, hopefully, enjoying? The selling of a 993 comment doesn't really merit any comments. Costing twice as much as a comparable 996, it's soooooo.... difficult to sell, while 996s just fly off to the new owners once they show their pretty face on classifieds.
PS. 993 is not special. Not any more special than any other older Porsche or any other semi-uncommon older sports car. The only "special" thing in this thread is Johnny. And he's truly priceless, can't take that away.
