Can this be true:
http://www.partisan-autoteile.de/epa...ellmotoren_993

Actuators 993/964
These servo motors are overhauled , that is, All wear parts are replaced with new parts from quality modern automotive production .

The sliding contacts are hard gold plated . The electric motors are OEM original parts

We check each refurbished servo on an automated test and provide a warranty of two years .

Delivery will be made in exchange for a defective old part

Mr Sattler at PARTisan does this very good, I have exchanged a lot of servos there. As far as I know is he the only one that refurbish these servos.
Other Rennlisters has also used his services, search for his company name here on the forum .
Cheers,
Tore

Great info!

Can the existing servo motors be serviced (DIY) to prolong their life by cleaning the internals, checking soldered connections and re-grease? And if so what grease is recommended?

The most common fault in these is that the servo motor brushes wear and eventually causes a short circuit, which again causes damage to the PCB end switches due to the excessive current. The motors are not serviceable. (small, difficult to open, and brushes cannot be changed)

Tore

I was actually referring to the limit switch/PCB inside the housing. Could dirt build up, (cracked or loose) solder gone bad etc. add to a shorter life of the Servo's?

Yes, and Tore identified the failure mode... Do a search on 993 servo's. Plenty of discussion has been documented.

Here is some additional reading for you in case you didn't know about Tore and his in-depth knowledge on the subject of HVAC, and servos...

Good to see this link. I swapped my driver and passenger side footwell flaps a couple years back to get working heat on the driver's side. I'm sure total failure is in my near future. Costs and shipping to/from US seem in line with the work.

Thanks nine9six!

I had issues with a non working servo on my old 993 back in 2011 and solved it by cleaning and re-soldering the connections - so I had been in contact with Tore about that and my CCU issues. It's great to have Tore around!
For some reason I missed the second link you posted so thanks for sharing that.

I recently did a complete overhaul of my A/C system. My fresh air intake servo was fried on the PCB just as Tore said.
I contacted Michael Sattler at Partisan Autotiele about his rebuild service. Michael told me he would sell me a Rebuild Kit. The kit consisted of all his replacement parts including the gold plated PCB, motor, gear and shaft, grease, o-rings, and a 9V battery for testing the servo.
About a 2 on the difficulty scale. If you have basic skills and can follow directions you can rebuild your servo using his kit.
My A/C works just fine now! and finally some fresh air due to my new servo!

Great idea. I need at least one of my servos repaired. How much is the kit?

Interested to know if the kit works for all of them or is there specific rebuild kits for each.

Good news, less shipping involved probably and no big deal to refurbish these once you can get your hands on a kit!
