Carpet colors - real 993RS vs others
Bought a pair of 993RS seat belt covers only to find they don't quite match the black carpet kit I have.. close but wanted to check w/ others. not sure if this is unique to the RS or if Lakewell's version is different from OE.
Can anyone w/ a black interior confirm the amount of gray in their carpet? See below, RS piece on left.
Thanks-

Did you source those covers from Porsche recently? I've been searching for ages, though they were NLA. I had some copies made. How are you fixing them? 9M suggested firestuds but I'm looking at rivstuds if I can find them.
My RS carpet set is mainly from Lakewell but I messed up a piece and the replacement didn't colour match and the texture was different, the driver footwell carpet was totally wrong. Its a rhd car and the carpet appears to be a mirror of a lhd (wrong). So I now have 3 shades of grey and I'm ripping it out to go all black and will probably get it from Southbound Trimmers in UK who did the roof lining and correct drivers carpet.

They have those horrid coarse thread studs welded in (you know the ones that snap off inside wheel arches) and are secured by plastic nuts.
No doubt Bill V. will confirm.
I presume they go over the carpet so velcro should work, if not I'll try rivstuds or let Marc at 9M weld the studs in.
Covers located and ordered, hope they match my carpet at that price!

Fading is a good thing, don't forget a genuine RS is 18-19 years old now, so you get the patina.
I recall the factory thin carpets in my previous RS, on hot days you could feel the stickiness of the adhesive come through the carpet as they were so thin.....Nice!

Guys, he says he has just bought the RS carpet, it wont have faded!
The left hand piece is Black 5VF (as per sticker) the right hand piece is Black 70E.
70E ran up to 1989, 5FV runs from 1989 up to 98
I would suggest Lakewell have supplied you the earlier non 993 70E carpet set

Wouldn't it be nice if Porsche simply sold the plastic under their carpeted piece for the $10 it is worth?
Then one could apply their own carpet.
I can only dream on.

Heard back from Lakewell - said they just have 'black', not 'black w/ grey flecks' & made no mention of color codes... anyone know of a supplier who carries the correct 5FV carpet?

I did manage to get the 993Rs seat belt covers (Thanks Tosi) and have ordered the carpet from Southbound in black which have an excellent reputation in UK though delivery is slow.
I was looking at 964Rs covers which are slightly different and NLA.
Interestingly the trunk RS carpet is totally different colour(GB English). The studs have been welded in and covers fitted.
Lakewell supplied my original (grey) carpet but due to my cockup I needed a replacement piece but it was not a match in quality or shade despite the same reference.
