Default Carrera Desk Clock upgrade time

Following closely on the heels of last night's clock thread, I wanted to show another piece that was finished early this morning.

Dan (Edgy01), purchased one of my first Carrera Desk Clocks, back in May of 2006. Shortly after receiving it, Dan expressed interest in getting the clock to illuminate. I walked him through the wiring changes and he's enjoyed the clock ever since.

That is until I posted a pic of the Amboyna Wood clock that I made for Matt (jdistefa) in November of '09. I received an email from Dan at that point expressing interest in a 'kit' with which he could swap his clock mechanism into a new housing.

Many months passed but I was finally able to find a nice piece of this wood. Dan opted to send his old beater back to me and I finished the conversion over the last few days.

Dan - thank you again! A few pics:

Here is the version that Dan originally purchased in 2006:

I won't be the customer for this idea, but...ever thought of putting the clock on the inside of an RS steering wheel, where the horn button/badge goes? I thought about measuring the diameter, and seeing how close of a fit it was-since I have one of each in my C4S. That would make a very nice wall hanger, or mounted like the fan on a pedestal.

just a thought...

I went thru all your links last night, very nice work.

Thank you sir!

Find a wheel & a clock and I'll do it! Seriously, I think the price of an RS wheel + airbag would make this somewhat prohibitive.....

Good grief, Andreas!! We're going to have to petition Porsche to make nicer clock guages befitting of your housings.
