DIY A/C bracket modification for ease of belt installing
-Problem: It seems Porsche NA engineered tolerances too tight to allow easy changing of fan belt on some of the 993TT. As a result, one cannot easily remove and replace fan belts due to clearance issues between the innermost pulley and the AC bracket found on the right side of the pulley at exactly 3 o'clock
-Solution: Hack-saw off this AC bracket corner and clean up with a metal file
First photo: This is the problem: Belt too large to clear pulley; to the left of that 17mm nut
Second photo: This is the tool you will need. Purchased at Lowe's
Third photo: Job about 1/3 done. See slice into bulky bracket; remove 17mm nut to allow improved access
Fourth photo: File used to clean amputated part
Now belt goes in the honest way without stress. Note bracket is still solid and does not seem to compromise integrity
