Rear lettering pricing advice
I have the whole rear billboard... PORSCHE 911 Carerra S and its in silver. I did try to plastidip it but it's not perfect enough for my OCD. Want just a black 911. Dealer wants ~300 just in labor... is that reasonable? Seems Ludacris to me... would DIY if I had a template. I don't mind paying a fair price but that just seems like highway robbery.
Am thinking to take it off and wax myself before dropping it off but curious what others have paid.
TIA

I played with the lettering on my Cayman, but always had the original placement as a guide.
If the dealer has a template, go for it @$300. If it's not perfect, it will drive you nuts!
I have the same full billboard on my Carrera S, but it looks good on white with the chrome tips.

I have the painted black lettering...
but it is on a .2 so you probably won't like it.
I bought my 991 used but I believe the factory option was around $500.

If you have the existing already on, it's easy.
Just take off 1 letter at a time and place on the replacement. It's hard if you don't have the existing lettering, because then you really need a template.
Order the lettering from BumperPlugs https://www.bumperplugs.com/index.ph...product_id=224

$300 in labor? That is definitely a 2+ hour job...
My car was debadged. I bought black stone guards, and black "Carrera S" for the rear end. I am taking the car to get detailed when the weather warms up and was told they would install everything as part of the job.
Unique Car Care is one of the best detailers in the Boston area, so I assumed they either bought the template, or made their own from another 991.

I still prefer less busy but if mine was all black like that then I would leave.
Otger mention of taking off one at a time, like for like this would line up or I'd make my own template but it needs wax and attention to remove minor scratches. Also replacing the paragraph with 911 nets different spacing.

I agree that it can be a pretty straightforward DIY, especially if you use a decal rather than individual letters. I went with a decal from:
http://www.designstuffonline.co.uk/v...che/index.html
The website is great because you can customize the decal to your lettering and color of choice. I opted for "911 GTS" because I thought "991 GTS" would confuse non-Porschephiles, who might think: "The middle number is a 9 instead of a 1!" The beauty of the decal is that it is much easier to put on straight. Just use some tape to mark off the original letters and then apply the decal as instructed on the website. You get two decals with your purchase but my decal looks as good as new after a year. Hope this helps!

hey R rated
i would use this link and follow this tape method so you can reference where your old letters currently are before removing them.
once there you can easily calculate the mid distance/row between 'PORSCE' and '911 Carerra S'. the mid/row distance between both rows should be the proper spot if you only want to put '911'
from here use clear tape to do a few test fits re '911'. assuming you want to use the oem 991 smaller sized '911', the few measurements you will need to make and mark using painters tape is TOTAL WIDTH - 2.75" inches. and HEIGHT 7/8" inches. having the correct height will ensure that the 911 is slanted perfectly like oem and 2.75" (making sure the gap between the 9+1, 1+1 is the same) will also ensure that your 911 will look totally oem.
i don't own a 991 but have done the badging mod to mine and my friends cars, and its really not that hard to do the badging modifications so that they look oem, even without a template. the trick is to be careful with your measurements and always apply your letting first with clear tape (removable) and then stand a car length or two back to make sure that everything looks correctly. ie. one of the biggest flaws re applying/re-apply PORSCHE is following in correctly the wrong decklid line and the PORSCHE ends up frowning DOWN once looking at it from afar.
here are some pointers/tips and the overall theory is the same re applying badging. it should help.

if we were in the same area i would be glad to help you with it, all in all shouldnt take more then an hour.
looks great - love the red S myself
