rear bike hitch
Hi, trying to figure out how to best carry my bike on the 991.2. I saw this video of a rear mounted hitch on a 997 that seems like a nice way to do it, a nice touch is the sliding rear plate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQocD5PlEyU
Is there anything like this available for the 991.2 ?
I do not want to install the roof bars.
A third option would be the sea suckers rack bike rack like this:
Thanks!

That's impressive! I will look into the gururack solution.
I've been using the OEM rack with Thule bike mount - why are you against the roof rail solution, curious?
Bird automotive has had a great solution for 981/987 cars ... wonder why they can't fashion one for the 911?

think roof rack is best solution
sea sucker looks cool, but I would not be comfortable with those suction cups over time
gururack would block your entire rear view I think

I typically travel with my bike once a week. I am not sure how easy/fast is it to put the roof rack on and off ? No way I am driving the rest of the week with the roof top bars on.
I think the rear mounted rack is a better solution and I do not care about the rear view, you have to be careful looking forward

Following up on this the 2 guys I found online doing a rear tow mounted hitch did not bother to reply to email. I guess it leaves me with the sea sucker and the roof rack. For the people using the roof rack with the bike carrier what the time really needed to put this thing on and off ? Do you leave the bike carrier attached to the roof rack when in storage or remove that as well ?

You might want to call these guys: http://birdautomotive2.com/boxster-bike-rack.html
It's made for a 981 and attaches to two receivers that are installed but it might be applicable to the 911.
I read good reviews on this mount at planet-9.com.

Three Wheelin'
The bars themselves are pretty quick on/off.
I have RockyMount trays, which are not as quick on off, so I usually leave them attached and take off the racks with the trays attached, as a grid. Problem with that is that it then becomes a bit heavier/unwieldy to lift the two bars plus two trays at once, and so easier with two people. So a lot of the time the stuff just stays on there, which I know is what you are trying to avoid.
Very curious to see other solutions also as I am thinking a GT3 and the attachment points are not there...
I know people swear by the sucky things, but I really do like the security of the proper OEM mounts.

I'm looking for the same thing for my 996 Cabriolet. I have contacted Will and willwoodsystem.com, but he's been out of pocket for personal reasons until the beginning of Feb.
