Default bluetooth music complaints

I like to listen to Bluetooth music once I enter the car but the PCM takes about a minute to connect to my iPhone. During this time, from inserting the key to waiting for connection it defaults to the FM tuner. When it does connect, it doesn't switch to Bluetooth and play music where it left off. I have to manually switch over on the PCM and then open my phone and start the song. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes this sucks and in my case the radio seems to be on a station that is broadcasting 100% static at 100% volume.

Been discussed before without resolution so it goes down as a "feature"

Bluetooth volume level needs to be much higher than tuner volume to get to the desired level of sound. So when you turn off the car and restart it blasts you when it defaults to tuner. Terrible design. One of the side benefits of the "Smart Top" Mod is that it has the ability to turn the sound system to the lowest level when starting the car. It's much easier to settle into the car without the loud volume from the tuner blasting your ears at start up.

Gave up on the PCM bluetooth. I used a BT receiver from my previous car and plugs them into the AUX port with the USB port powering it. Detects my phone within 10 secs and I get to keep the PCM at AUX all time without it switching back to the dumb tuner. You would thought a car this expensive would have better audio system than a Kia.

I got those with AptX (i think only the Kinvio actually have AptX, but i have Viper4Android setup to my taste on my phone so it sounds awesome with or without AptX). The problem you will face is that the volume on the AUX is lower than the other volumes, so make sure you switch it down when toggling to another source.

I am using this (this auto off - but the car will turn off USB power after 30sec of locking anyway):

I find this is good too, but i broke it (cable too thin):

This was pretty good but not using USB to power (the car don't power down the power outlet when locked, i waited 30minutes and it's still power on):

I have the same frustration. How do the aux units behave when a phone call comes in?

wait, so you're saying the car turns the power to the USB outlet off, in the glove compartment 30 seconds after start? Edit: NM, I misread what you said.

I used the car BT for phone. I haven't gotten a call yet while I am driving but with all my bmw and rentals, regardless of audio source, when a call comes in, all audio is muted. Hopefully the PCM is the same, it better not be worst than a 2008 Kia system.

Yeah, the usb seems to shut off about 30 sec after I lock the car. I time this by looking at the audio that is playing until it stopped which is when the BT receiver power is cut off. I might have to double check, but pretty sure it was about 30sec or so.

I was wondering if your phone had trouble holding both Bluetooth connections at the same time or not? I suppose this could also depend on the phone? Thanks.

BT was horrible in my 2013 C2S when I had my Nexus 5. I only had a BT connection available 50% of the time. It was ridiculous since I usually had no access to my music on long drives or commutes.

Now with my 16 GTS and my Nexus 6P? Not a single problem. It works 100% of the time. Not sure if it's the phone, the updated PCM, or a little bit of both.

Either way, it's pretty ridiculous. Lots of people have documented BT problems with all kinds of phones.
