Default Slight wobbly feeling when car idles

I have noticed this wobbly feeling when the car is idle, like it wobbles slight left and right, the RPM of the car also very slightly fluctuate which you won't notice unless you pay very close attention to the needle and notice the movement. The feeling is like how you feel when you are in a boat floating in a calm water. Anyone experience the same? What is the problem?

I feel a little sometimes too, I'm pretty sure it's just a normal side effect of horizontally opposed cylinders.

interesting, need to check with my Suby friends to see if they experience the same with their boxer engine.

Do you have the Sport Chrono package? It includes Dynamic Engine Mounts which cushion the vibrations from the engine and transmission.

Mine does this - sometimes more than others. I also have sport chrono. I've always thought it to be normal.

Flat sixes are not as smooth idling as an inline six, not sure if you come from the BMW world. Subarus and their boxer engine do the same thing, as another person mentioned, it's the nature of the beast and part of the character of the Porsche engines. If there was an actual issue (misfires) your ECU would detect it and throw a trouble code.

Yes, came from BMWs Do i need to tap into OBD to see the code? Does any OBD reader works on the Porsche or I need to get a specialized one?

I've successfully read codes with a generic reader before on my '12 (misfire code, at least).

The CEL would appear on your dash display if you had a misfire. If you don't see a visible trouble code, you should be fine. But if you are super concerned, just drop it off at the dealer, you are probably still under warranty.

The 911's a bit like a gorgeous chick with a perfect butt, she might wiggle it a little bit just standing there just because she can.

I had a subtle idle wobble before on a past 911 ( new 996 Turbo ) which was said to be " normal , because Mezger, because powerful motor , blah , blah " and which did not throw any OBD codes . I insisted they investigate it further , to their annoyance .

It turns out one of the spark plugs looked like it had been dropped before installation as the electrode was bent and the gap was obviously much too close ..problem solved !

First step is to go to your dealer and compare your car's idle to 4-5 similar ones on their lot.
