Just had my 2016 GT3 arrive and want to hard-wire my Passport Redline...how easy was it to tap into the rear-view mirror? I did it myself on my 14 SRT Jeep and it is very easy to tap into the pin connectors, just need to know the right ones and how accessible the connector is?? Any help/diagrams is greatly appreciated...thanks!

I think the mounts are different. I would visit Escorts website and take a look at the mounts that they sell directly, they list the compatibility.
Just to be specific I think the tang that is inserted into the radar unit is different between the Max series and the legacy units.

I would recommend that you tap into the fuse panel as the draw on these modern radar detectors are pretty high.
All my dealer put the power cable through the A pillar and headliner covers.
I would just negotiate it as part of your PDI. Dealer still wants you to pay for the car
Good luck and post pics!

Love this set up. How difficult was the install? Did you use the Wire tap connection. How much guessing and fiddling to get it to go. Would love to do myself.

I had dealer do this install in my Macan with blendmount and it's very sweet

Thank you T-Bone!!! Dealer will not do it for me (not "Porsche" certified), it's all good they are doing a lot of other stuff...so I will either do it myself or find an electronics installer and tap into something. So my SRT is tapped into the mirror and it has a 14-pin connection, along with two others. Do you think there is an issue long-term with pulling power off the mirror in general? It has worked great for 6+ months and has a built-in fuse; turns on and off with the car...and it's a $13 part but doesn't look like it. I have always piggy-backed my fuse box in the past but this mirror tap is so much easier and cleaner. Any help/thoughts are greatly appreciated.
In any case, say no to suction cups on the windshield.

Hey GTS, generally if it ain't broke, not worth fixing but personally, if these things are drawing a lot of power, I would be happy with paying for a $20 part and a couple hours of install. But without knowing the actually power draw, I really can't say.
In any case, say no to suction cups on the windshield.

Nice write up.
Anyone know if the power cord from V1 is compatible with Escort Max 360? Looking to change over to the escort.
I already have the wiring from V1 in place and just want to do a hardware swap.
