Yes, the horn is in the frunk next to the air compressor and battery.

It's "horns". There are two of them. Presumably located next to each other.

Actually, No, the front cover does NOT need to come off. Here's how to get to the horns (there are two of them!):
1. Unscrew the 5 fasteners holding the front apron in place underneath the bumper cover (this is the plastic piece covering the area just behind the rear-edge of the bumper cover)

2. With the 5 fasteners removed, pull down on the plastic cover, bending it down.

3. There is a single fastening nut holding the horn bracket in place -- I don't recall the size of the fastener, sorry. But you need to remove the horn and bracket as a single assembly.

4. Release the single electric plug from the bracket / horn and pull-out.
If I recall, you have to be a bit of an arm-contortionist to get in there and remove the assembly, especially if you don't have your car up on a lift. Some might find it easier to just remove the front bumper cover.... or have the dealer do it.

The position of the two horns? One on each side....

Incorrect. 2 horns are not visible. They are behind the bumper cover.

Thank you, Plenum, yes, my dealership is saying the bumper cover needs to come off.

Thank you, Sid. So now I am really confused. I think I remember seeing those, when I was doing my fall cleanup in preparation for winter storage. So are these the horns? Or are these sirens related to the alarm system?

I triple checked and verified the items I circled in the photo I provided are NOT the horns. Plenum is correct; my bad.

Sid is showing you the alarm horn location... Here's PET diagram of the parts. You can clearly see the design / shape of the "fanfare" lo and high horns is quite different from the "alarm" horn (which I don't think is really a horn as much as an electronic screech...).

Oh, and funny the dealer will remove the bumper... and charge you for the extra labor! There is an official Work Manual they are supposed to be using to match with labor codes in the system. Ask them about WM 905019 Removing and Installing Horn..... Instructs them to follow the steps I outlined in my prev post -- not remove the cover.

No foul, Sid...

One thing I myself am puzzled by is #5 in the picture from PET. It doesn't have an entry in the parts table, whereas #4 does. I'll have to research that a bit myself....

Cheers!

Just found an opportunity to add to this thread... Following is a picture (posted by member shumi_9 in a different thread) of a front cover off a 991. I circled in red the two horns. They are held in place by a bracket that you need to remove to get the horn off.
