Tlaloc75-

To answer your question of why I disposed of the 1995 993 that I loved so much for a 2013 Base C2 991:

I took the 993 in for a regular oil change in 2013 which usually takes + 1 hour. I occupy myself with a book and a stroll through the showroom. They had a black-on-black 2013 991 with nothing more than PDK which a snow-bird from upstate New York had ordered. When he arrived to trade his 996, it was unworthy of the agreed upon price. The dealership became desperate to sell this "Base" car. I had 3 back surgeries and was missing foot rhythms in the 993. I thought it was a signal to me that I better prepare for PDK. I called the wife after dealing with the Porsche shop. They were generous in the trade and my wife gave me her usual "go for it". I did and regretted it shortly thereafter. The 993 was the most perfect car of any I have owned. It was flawless, responsive, convenient and accommodating. Above all, I had no major repairs in 18 years of ownership. The SA bought the 993 from the dealership. I see it quite often at the dealership and try to buy it back. The SA has no garage so the paint I scrupulously maintained is deteriorating. It still runs perfectly.

I wrote an article on the 2015/2016 GTS a few weeks thereafter for our PCNA newsletter. I drove the PDK for 13 months and my left leg kept relaying insults. At 15 months I advertised the PDK in cars.com. I had 24 responses in the first 2 days. Of course, most were bogus. A delightful fellow from Birmingham Alabama called me and we agreed on a price. It happened that we were both going to be in Destin, Florida the next weekend. He came to my hotel and fell in love with the 991 and handed me a check on a local bank that I verified was good. My wife and I had no way to get home. I talked him to come to our hometown not far from Birmingham the next weekend. He did and drove it off. I ordered a GTS the next Monday.

I had a hard time with the GTS when I received it 3 months later. All my Porsches since 1974 had floor-mounted pedals. The GTS had suspended pedals. I missed shifts and pedal coordination. I took it to one of my friends who has a 981. He drove it perfectly and told me it was me. It was!

The bottom line is I loved my 993, I loved my 1987 silver C2 but traded impulsively for a Targa in 1989. I hope I will be able to keep the GTS for many years as I am 73 yoa!

Thank you for your indulgence.

got my first P-car in 2009 (visited the porsche orlando dealership about 50x while attending UCF, graduated and a year of hard work and a mitsubishi galant turned into a 997.1 M/t Base Cabrio.

From there it's been a little back and forth
997.1 m/t base cab (2005 MY) in 09
997.2 PDK base coupe (2009 MY) in 09
958.1 Cayenne (2011 MY) in 10
958.1 Cayenne (2012 MY) in 11
991.1 PDK base coupe (2012 MY) in 11
997.1 M/t Turbo Coupe (2007 MY) in 12
997.1 GT3 (2010 MY) in 15
95B (MacanS) PDK (2015 MY) in 15
991.1 GT3 (2014 MY in 15
991.1 GT3 (2015 MY) in 15
991.1 GT3RS
Gets a little busy and left porsche realm for a little.
991.2 M/t Base Coupe (2017 MY) in 17

all that being said, if i could pick any make/model/year of the last 15 years.. i would go back to 997.1 or 997.2 GT3, i really can never fall in love with the 991 chassis as it always feels too refined.

i'll upload pics when i find some.

Fun thread!

My first (car) was a 1979 911 SC Targa. I did a full metal wide body conversion. Great car that I miss dearly. 1990 - 1995

My next Porsche was a 2012 Panamera Turbo. Amazing machine! 2015-2016.

Now I'm back to a 911 and recently picked up a new 2016 C2.

I bought a a 997.2TT cab in ruby red. This was the first year PDK was available in the TT. Added an AWE exhaust, techart side skirts and front bumper cut out (GT3 look). It was my daily driver for 6 years. Put over 60k miles on it. It was amazing to drive in any season. Never had any problems with it.

I now own this 991.2 Targa 4S. Absolutely love it. Feels just as quick as the TT. I love the retro look of the Targa, and I prefer the open air feel of the Targa over the cab.

"65 European 912 coupe
'67 911S coupe
'75 Silver anniversary coupe (brand new)

All of this by age 24, then...
'73 914 2.0
'76 911S coupe
'78 911 SC coupe
'80 911 SC coupe
'83 911 SC targa
'84 Carrera coupe
then age 37, the music stopped....however, 16 years later...
'67 911S coupe (still have)

Only 1 prior 911, a 2005 C2S which I bought new. It was a different enough driving experience that sometimes I wish I still had it.

It's not a competition but I'm probably gonna win this (the "should not have sold" race, or the "biggest moron award")
And those are just the oldies....
