PCM Software Version Update

Burning Brakes
Absolutely can be done. And if done right shouldn't put any warranty risk on the table. If you take an approach that requires cracking-open the PCM case to get at the internal connectors, then yes I would guess there are grounds for voiding the warranty.... However there are integration approaches for cameras that do NOT require opening or modifying the PCM case at all. There are DIY posts by myself and others on this board and 6SpeedOnline that cover the process in detail.

My local dealer discouraged me from the backup camera installation. Lots on work including partial dismantling of the interior. Apparently it's not prewired or anything, unless it was ordered when the car was built. I'm not doing it.

Odd that mine was build in July and I'm on version 4.75. Guess that explains why it sometimes disconnects and re-boots

My dealer updated mine yesterday when. Was in for the new rear tire. They were great about taking care of it after I told them about the disconnect issues I'd had. I don't have many hours with the new version, but so far so good.

I have a 2014 50th anniv. 911. PCM 4.36. All was ok until this morning, when the PCM would reboot itself every 4 minutes. Can't connect to bluetooth, and can't load navigation or any maps. Tried factory reset but no help.
I'm glad I found this thread and to know that there's actually a service bulletin for this. Will bring the car in next week to get it updated. Hopefully that'll solve the problem.
Also, by definition, a service bulletin means that the dealership will only cover the fix if there is actually a problem that's voiced by the customer. Recalls are mandatory, service bulletin is not. So if you got the "free" upgrade without actually having an issue, consider yourself well serviced.

I've got a 2012.5 that's currently running 3.43. I understand that 2013 got a slight PCM refresh with support for online services and runs the 4.x branch of code. Has anyone had any luck getting their 2012.5 updated with 4.x? Or are we stuck on 3.x?

I have a 2013 C4S (mfg Oct 2012) with 3.43. Been having flaky Bluetooth issues so had it in today for SW update. Picked it up and it still has 3.43! Service Rep said they updated to the latest for this car but also seemed puzzled.
Anyone have a 2013 with newer than 3.43?

Stuck with 3.x based on my chasing an upgrade earlier in the year. My dealer is one of five flagship stores and the service guys treat me well so I believe what I was told. Apparently the PCM innards were updated sometime after the 2012.5 launch cars were made.

Anyone know when the next update is to occur in 2016? Would like to get mine to the most recent version before I assume they'll stop upgrading it when the new 991.2 system comes out.
