My GTS arrived in SA on Monday this past week after order placed in Dec '14. Truck broke down on way to Porsche dealer and promised Fri 24 delivery now tomorrow! This is killing me so going fishing!

Yep the 993 will help ... take it out for a spin whenever you feel the aching gap that is your missing GTS ...

What's worse, I will be driving mine in about 3 weeks time, then I have to give it back and wait for another 6 weeks for it to make it here!

I considered reaction to that statement: empathy...but then completely rejected it!

Do any of you sagacious rennlisters who have been thorough this (custom order) before me have any particular favorite coping mechanisms for the wait that you'd like to share?

Thanks in advance!
Whatever you do, don't spend hours and days on websites like Autopia, AutoGeek, Suncoast, Amazon, and others reading about all the waxes, sealants, glazes, polishes, soap, microfiber this, microfiber that, brushes for under the wheel wells, brushes for the lug nuts, ad infinitum. If you go to these sites and while away your time thinking about what you are going to do when your car arrives, it will cost you hundreds and hundreds and even hundreds more. Don't do it... like I did.

I took ED on my 1995 993. My wife wanted to take ED on the 991. I refused because it took 9 weeks to get the 993 here after ED. Therapy should have been undertaken in the interim.

Well, the good news or bad news (depending on perspective) is I've been there / done that over the last 25 years / am still doing that. I humbly think that maintaining these great cars is part of the pleasure of owning these cars.

Here's a shot of most of the supplies that I've amassed:

And yes, thankfully the nice antique armoire doesn't fit in the house, so it's being put to good use in the garage!

....and I thought I had a problem with my attention to an automobile marque for 41 years.....like you, I can document my problem. My GTS got off the boat yesterday just 200 miles east of me and it is sitting there doing nothing. In similar circumstances in 1995 I merely drove over and scooped it up. Cannot do that today.

I thought of something new that should keep me occupied for a coupe of days - the Porsche "Good to Know" app provides access to what seems like the whole contents of the Owners Manual. Plus some videos. Too bad there's no easy / obvious way to get the manual in PDF format. Still, like I said, The GTN app should keep me occupied for a bit. (The hookers and blow and Jameson's are putting a dent in my productivity at work)

I just finalized my build and now I get to wait 96 days (hopefully) for delivery. Luckily I have other fun cars to drive, but it's gonna be a long, slow three months.

Are you back home Larry?

Looking forward to hearing about the very brief trip.
