Default Lava Orange Targa in San Francisco?

I saw a really nice Targa today in Lava Oranga:

I hadn't seen this color before in person and I was surprised how much I liked it. It looked really good on the Targa. It was at Rector Porsche in San Francisco and the dealer told me it was a special order awaiting pickup. Anyone know the to-be owner?

doesn't look like it has enough red in it to be lava orange.

You are probably right.

It doesn't look to me like the photos we have seen of 'Lava Orange'...plus I didn't think you could have ordered 'Lava Orange' on a MY2015 Targa that many months ago so that it already be at the US dealership in April! The color was only officially announced to the world at the Geneva Auto Show in early March...and that was initially for the 991 gt3 RS! Only recently it was made known it could be ordered as 'special color' on MY2016 991's.

I think you're all correct about the color; it does seem like Gulf Orange. I asked the dealer to let me know for sure. (Tempted to ask her to let me know if the new owner changes their mind! Think I'll stick to my own Targa order 'though.)

Regardless of what color it is, it looked really good. Since ordering my Targa, I've been a bit worried about it, thinking it looks so big in all the big pictures compared to the old Targas that I used to admire as a kid. But in person, the car just looked really good - "playful" is the word that came to mine - and quite small. Mine's Mahogany Brown but hopefully I'll like it even more.

Love the color; no way you'd not be able to find it in even the most crowded parking lot.

Now, does this Targa look Lava or Gulf Orange?: http://www.autogespot.com/porsche-99...s-1/2015/04/13

I'm just wondering. Lava Orange seems to me to have a more reddish tone than Gulf.
