Default Cool mod: GT3RS hood?

Does anyone know if the GT3RS hood is a direct bolt-on fit for a standard Carrera? I realize the front bumper is different but I wonder if that effects the shape of the hood as well? If you could get a good paint patch, or were the type of person who likes flat-black, this could be a very cool modification.

I want the hood and fenders for my 991TT. I thought I read that the hood was CF so it may be quite a bit more expensive than you expect.

Then you will want the rear spoiler/wing as well, because those fenders with the vents produce double the downforce. A great thing for a guy who hits 150 passing cars on a two-lane but a pretty big project to do it right.

I would think it would fit. But most likely it will be around $8-10K. But definitely a cool mod.

Just remembered a friend or two who had carbon fiber hoods on their Cup cars removed and swapped out for metal. This was fairly common. The expense of replacing one just wasn't worth the few pounds saved.

But then they were racers concerned with performance.

I'm wondering since this is supposed to be for looks how its going to look when it clearly doesn't match the stock roofline??

IMHO, GT3RS Parts should stay on a GT3RS only

Not that I disagree, but a lot of stuff available now started out at one point on cars at the top of the range. Just off the top of my head, PCCB, Centerlock Wheels, Aerokit Package. Porsche has always been a 'parts bin' company, willing to capitalize on the fact that it's race cars were based on customer chassis.

I'm not suggesting bolting on the GT3RS fenders and building a clone, simply that there might be a subtle, tasteful way to personalize your car with a part that was made contemporarily by the factory that will bolt onto your existing car. There's another thread on the 991 forum about buying Sport Buckets, which were clearly never offered for US Carreras. I say to each his (or her) own. We're not talking about aftermarket bumpers or wheels, we're talking about compatible factory available parts.

I have a 1967 911S that the original owner owned for a year before buying a factory roll bar, 100L fuel tank, and 7R wheels from the Porsche dealer so he could go SCCA racing. These were parts created for the 911R race car, but I'll be damned if they aren't desirable and period correct. As a matter of fact, they mean that the car will command a premium if I ever decide to sell it, even those these parts were not available for that particular model. Different strokes for different folks.

I like the air vent cut into the front bumper cover right in front of the hood more than the hood itself.
