Default 997.2 GT3 vs. 991 GTS - straight line

Used to own a .2 GT3 and now a 991 GTS manual.

Haven't found #s but was just curious about how they compare. Horsepower numbers are close 435 vs 430. GT3's wing may slow it down but those GT3 motors have secret sauce 😂...anyone have a clue?

Not a straight line guy but was driving today and wondered how it compares to my old car.

I would think GT3 would win because of said special sauce.

Tiff Neddell compared lap times for a 997.2 GT3 and a 991 C2S (non power pack). The GT3 had a better time, but was on cup tires.

I think stock to stock they would be very close... fastest published 0-60 I've seen on a 997.2 GT3 is 3.8 seconds which matches the 991 GTS (PDK) time directly from Porsche. Believe I read somewhere that the 991S is as fast around the 'Ring as a 997.2 GT3 as well although certainly different from an experience perspective. I could be wrong of course as I'm no expert.

Interesting that there hasn't been any instrumented testing as of yet on the 991 GTS either...

Porsche rarely hands out manuals for instrumented tests, which I find annoying.

The S with Timo Kluck 7:37.9, 997.2 GT3 with Horst von Sauma 7:40. So the 991S is actually faster than the 997.2 GT3.

Three seconds is not much on such a long course. Three seconds could be weather, drivers, anything. This guy, for example, for some strange reason keeps taking one hand off the wheel. Lots of times even on corner entry, just an awful time to be screwing around with anything other than steering.

I ran my C2S against my friends 997.2 GT3. Both were pretty even actually, while the powerbands are very different. The GT3 has more torque down low, while the 991 is more peaky. We were both surprised.

That said, still selling the 991 for my old 997.2 GT3 : )
