Well it has started already. A member of PCA is trying to get $25K for the option to buy one of the new PCA Anniversary cars. I don't know if I am the exception but the whole idea of a PCA special edition in limited quantities lacks good taste - I would use stronger language but I am going to restrain myself. What are your thoughts?

The idea of a limited car is ok with me. Just don't like it when people try and abuse the process. Let a true enthusiast own it.

I don't think the car in limited quantities is in bad taste, but DO think that a PCA member trying to sell his / her option IS in bad taste.
I'm one of the other 59 and as suggested above, my decision was to either opt in or pass and let PCA National figure out who else should get "my" option.
To your point though, I think a better path would have been to make this package available for any PCA member to order (rather than have it be limited).

I'm sure PCNA is "thrilled" that one of the lottery winners is auctioning the car on Ebay.

As a free market capitalist I have no problem with somebody trying to capitalize on their lottery win. I can't imagine anyone paying any premium like that for the place in line, but hey, more power to the seller if he can get it! I don't think there's a point of honor or bad taste here. Many join PCA because the magazine (finally) is pretty good under Stout, and it's just one of those things you should join if you have a Porsche. But I don't think there's an obligation to honorably pass your winning number on to the next person in line if you can endow it on somebody who didn't win but wants to pay for a seat at the table.
The problem is, that's specifically forbidden. Which means the winner will have to buy the car, title it, and then resell it to the next guy.

I filed a complaint with PCA on that ad early today, and sent the seller a note on it as well. It goes against the Spirit of the Club. Glad to see he pulled the auction.

Same kind of thing here. Ruining the spirit of the right of purchase being awarded to a true enthusiast. Though in some ways, I think both Porsche and Nike know that by creating these limited edition runs, they are just encouraging the hypebeasts and profiteers.

Wonder if PCA pulled the membership of this clown?
