I must admit I was not always a Duck guy. My used C2S was not blessed with one and went through reassignment.

I'll never go back!

The removed spoiler....

How does the ducktail save weight vs without? How much? If its function as a spoiler is to add down-force, how much better is it vs the regular spoiler that's standard?

The weight savings isn't anything significant. My guess less than 10 lbs. I'd have to weigh the old spoiler. Nothing that would make a difference!

The sport design front bumper was made for better aerodynamics in coordination with the duck spoiler. I've read the height and programming on the moving spoiler is different because of the sport design bumper on the GTS.

At the end of the day, the sport design bumper is a great piece for better aerodynamics and the most important part.

Whatever option rear spoiler you go with should be pretty close down force wise. It's pretty much an aesthetic call at that point.

I have my old spoiler pictured above. It has a metal base and motor. The ducktail is just a piece of hollow plastic and lighter.

I personally don't like the look of the stock spoiler in the up position. It looks like the truck is open or something. In the down position, I think the rear of the 911 is very attractive.

Thanks. I see you replaced yours later. So this plastic piece is replacing something more complicated/substantial. Looking at the shape of the ducktail, I wonder if things/dirt tend to collect at the valley where it connects to the car?

Although $2K at this point is a small number, my mind is trying to wrap around how this makes sense when it should cost less than the standard spoiler being replaced. Have to hand it to the Porsche marketing guys.

Haven't you figured them out yet?? Anything that gets replaced, you still pay full price for. They get the advantage of keeping the part they would have given you!

Don't worry about the dirt. The current spoiler is the one that is always dirty underneath for everyone to see when it's raised.

I say go for it. If the ducktail was available for the 50th, I would have optioned it.

You can always drive around under 75 MPH w/what looks like an erection
thinking high speed thoughts with the std spoiler up . Many seem to like that look....save yourself $2K
