I actually find it keeps my back cool. Being in SFO you could probably get away without vent seats, but we have similar summer weather to you. We have Cognac seats, run the A/C at 20C, and still after about 10 minutes of top-down driving you are reaching for the vent control because your shirt is starting to stick to your back.

Ventilated Seats are those type of items you don't really think you need, until you get them then thank your lucky stars you have it & would never do without...kinda like my first Ipad!

Also, the Smart Top is an absolute must! So cool to walk towards the car & remote open top before entering...a mini show for all to gaze upon!
And never a Hot Interior to enter! ORDER IT NOW!

I don't think they are an absolute requirement; but I sure do enjoy them on a hot day with the top down! Personally, however, if I was to get a GTS I would opt for the Alcantara, it's part of the GTS allure.

As for ventilated seats, I consider them mandatory on a cab or in a coupe... but then again I live in the desert!
The vented seats in my 911 work better than the other 2 vehicles we've had with them.
