Everyone is different..... I lease my cars and in the home stretch for my 2013 991 C4S. Currently have 11,250 miles. I am allowed 16,875 plus the few miles at delivery. I will use each and every one. This averages 700 per month for the last 8 months (lease is over 6/21/15). I will drive it all winter.

I am not saving it for the next guy. I leased it new and it's my choice. Car has survived 2 winters and hopefully this one. Clear bra certainly helps. Car does not see snow or the days right after. But I will drive it almost everyday thru December and nicer days in Jan, Feb and March.

11,800 miles since taking delivery in March. Turning off insurance today. Wednesday I start my wheels off full concours detail. Store in my heated garage with a cover on it. I won't fire the engine again till April/May and then do another 12,000 miles next year on sunny weekends.

In my State if I cancel insurance I have to turn in the plates or they suspend your license.

You're right. Should have said "suspend" most of the coverage. I'm still covered for theft, fire, mice, stuff like that. With State Farm. Costs less than $50 for those months of storage vs. $600ish. Car stays locked, keys go into the biometric safe.

if it was a lease, it would be a bit excessive. but its not, so look after your $h!t. to just say "its just a car" as a rationale for being lazy is also like saying "its just a house" or "its computer" until something goes wrong.

- Armour all the inside of the wheel wells
- put kitty litter inside the car to absorb moisture

- Order Porsche videos to watch all winter....or youtube

Sorry, in New England here I think I have possible another month. Certainly a sad day when I put it away. Bad thing is the bike goes at the same time. No toys, left with the 2012 TDI Golf or the wifes G37x.

Lease or own, no difference. Wash it and put it away.

Or he can continue to do exactly as he's done, being that it's his car. Crazy, I know.

Shoot Mr. Ducati !

I'm always so sorry to hear about this. I'm geographically ignorant. Was born in Pasadena and have lived in Los Angeles my entire life. Didn't even go away for college.
If one has never had to deal with cleaning up after sand, salt, whatever they put down on your roads I don't think one should talk. That would be me.

I have absolutely no idea how to compare. I did own a few lifted Toyota and Blazer 4x4's in my youth and had to spend almost an entire day each time I completely covered my rigs in mud. I can only imagine.

I think that if I lived above the 49th parallel I would lease a C4S and have at it all winter and take my chances. But that's just me and I have zero common sense at all.

There should be a ceremony for tucking in your car. My 9 year old daughter makes me sing her a song.
