Grunty - If you want someone to do it in NJ I can't recommend Phil at Detailer's Domain highly enough.

They are a certified Opti-coat installer and do amazing work.

Also, once it has cured you can still layer wax / sealant on top of opti-coat to get your fix. It isn't necessary, but it doesn't hurt.

You can wax over it. But not necessary.

I put 2 coats of Auto Finesse Illusion carnauba over mine. All good.

Well, it turns out I'm a horrible detailer and I botched up my car pretty good. The guy doing it has switched over to applying something called CQuartz instead of opti-coat.

Here are some pics he took:

I guess the moral of the story is if you don't know what you're doing either make sure you learn well before trying it out on your car or leave it to the pros.

ha. how many coats of glaze had you applied? I guess it was doing a decent job of hiding the mess beneath.

Nice work by Xclusive to correct that the right away. Topped with CQuartz or Opticoat you will have a really good base for moving forward.

Have him give you some wash pointers (two bucket method, etc) to minimize the problem in the future.

And don't blame yourself as being a horrible detailer... black is really unforgiving.

I hadn't really put down too many coats of wax but I had tried to get rid of some nasty chemical type spots that I had somehow acquired. I guess I used too aggressive a pad on my machine.

I already do use the 2 bucket method, with a deionizer, and I dry with a leaf blower. But Will (the detailer) said he will show me the proper washing method to be used on the Cquartz when I pick up the car

I am strongly considering having opticoat done on my daily driver '13 white C4 and my white sport techno wheels. I just visited a local shop here in Cincinnati that is an authorized dealer. I was quoted $600 for car. From a video on their website they apply coating by spraying it on. Is this normal?

That's really strange. I've never seen it applied by spray like that. Having applied Opti-coat 2.0 myself I can't say that I like it, but they ARE certified opti-coat pro installers, so perhaps it is ok.

They use 22ple and ism kamikaze coatings. Not opti-coat.

That's about right (some of the other prices quoted on this thread appear high, but I think the price might vary depending on locale).

The total price for OptiCoat should include paint correction, which is probably the most important and time-consuming part of the process.

If the paint correction process is simple, and there are no major issues, then 600 (with wheels, calipers, etc. included) is about right. If you have major paint correction issue with the clearcoat or whatever, then it will (and should) be more.

first picture taken by the detailer who did the job. He ended up going with Opti-Coat Pro after all. I will take some more tomorrow in the sun.

Here are some pics I took today in the sun after the Opti-Coat was applied. Some fluffy pollen fell on it in some pics but you can get the general idea. The car has never looked as good, even the day I picked it up. I should have had this done when it was brand new.
