991 Turbo S vs GT3RS - tested on track
I won't ruin it with results, but this is an exceptional video, done by EVO in the UK, testing a 991 TTS vs 991 GT3RS on the same track, same driver. Very fun to watch this guy drive, and spot the differences in the cars through the lap.
Of course, I'm willing to bet anything the GT3RS had Cup2 tires while the TTS had PZero. At the very first opening shot of the two cars, the TTS front tire shoulder profile looks PZero to me. If so, the TTS is the faster car.

The other thing that is striking is that he really had to wrestle that GT3RS round the track, while the TTS seemed more effortless - far less hand movement on the steering wheel.

Those tests have been out quite a while. And yes, the Turbo had PZero tires....I do think the GT3RS would be about a second faster if they were tested on the same day though.

No I dont think so - even Porsches own driver have quoted in interviews that in some cases the Turbo S is faster and in some the GT3 RS. But they said the GT3 RS is the more engaging car - with the TTS all is mostly effort less. But speed wise not much in it.

Porsche even quotes the stock 991.2 TTS lap time at Nordschleife to be faster then the 991.1 RS with PZero tires.

And yet the fat, luxury GT TTS on relatively crap tires is the same speed. So now the GT3RS's existence is justified because "it's more engaging"
And that track seems to be relatively technical. I'm sure the difference would be more pronounced in a higher speed track.
I suppose the RS is more suited to repeated and longer runs at high speed, but I do recall, at the Porsche experience at Barber, the instructors were pounding their TTS's without mercy for hours in 90+ degree weather without any complaint from the car. The irony is interesting.
