Thats how I did it but I stepped on the breaks afterwards because I didn't want to activate the launch control by mistake.

Two great cars, two completely different driving experiences. The GT3 is the bargain of the century.

I was running Trofeo R at the time and from what I noticed on the track and on the strip is that they have bad grip if you didn't heat them enough.
Oh, I agree you should still get your tires warm but not to use the water. Like I said it's been ain't time but almost every street tire car drove around the water and then did a burn out in the dry pavement. Maybe it won't make a difference but this is what I would try also if I was to drag my gt3

I didn't know that but I will give it a try next season for sure.

Like I said it's been long time(20+years)so I guess things have changed.
I believe times have changed, i used to drag race a lot and when I ran R compound drag radials that were DOT approved, they had tread on them. Difference is using the water to get a sticky tire to spin/heat up. Waters quite a bit as well since there is A LOT of rubber in that burn out box and staging area that will make you wheel hop.

I would still go through water with a small burn out on street tires just to clean any rocks off the tire before the launch.

These GT3's come with cup tires, So i would probably suggest going through the water as they are a sticky compound, to prevent any damage from wheel hopping while trying to do a burn out in the dry with layers of rubber from previous burnouts before.

Cup tires do help the car but the car still does ok on the street Michelin MPSS tires which I use as my winter tires. I was able to run 11.27 on my cup 2 tires and my best time on the MPSS was 11.69, but they were deflated to 27 psi & ambient was 73F. Mark

Very true..but in the 458 we are talking about 2009 technology. Both amazing cars. Both feel a bit video-gamey in how they drive and the level of confidence they instill. This is such an amazing time to be a car person.

When you ran 11.27 what MPH did you run?

If you roll through the water box won't your front tires leave a moist trail for your rears to run through? I've only ever gone around the box.

thats what i managed too. ran a few 11.7s at 120 mph. but my track is at like 2000 ft. so i dont think im likely to get near the 11.2 the mags got.

plus i like running my cls63 at the dragstrip more than the gt3, gt3 almost feels out of place there. (no surprise) with a tune and downpipes the cls will reel in just about anything... literally!!
