For 500 miles, drive it. If you are getting clear bra at home, just use painters tape or the temporary spray. Plus you get to check it over yourself before taking delivery.

[QUOTE=RayDBonz;12153515]Wait - you have to drive your car there to trade it? Why would you not drive the new one home? Or am I missing something?
-----its another 10 hrs back. Weekends are the only time I get any rest.
Enclosed shipping is about $1/mile, so it would be about $500 to ship. If you have to fly home after driving your trade-in there, that's more $$. There goes any tax savings.
--Its actually $950.
I think when you said "I really would like to drive it" you answered your own question.
As an alternative, I'm sure one of us from AZ would be happy to drive it out there for you.
----Thanks for the offer. You guys have so much time in your hands.

It doesnt have any clear bra yet. I am afraid to clear bra it before I inspect it. Did anybody clear bra car before seeing it in person? I am tempted but I am afraid to have them do it.

Not in AZ, they are weird. If you take delivery from the lot, they have to collect. If you ship it out of state, you can pay at your county. I have bought cars mostly out of texas and this is the first time I have to pay their taxes when you drive off a car from their lot.

Drive it. It's a 500 mile road trip in a GT3 that few get to experience. Don't make this a financial decision, make it an emotional one. You will have a great story to tell

Nonresidents from CA, CT, FL, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MI, MN, NV, NJ, PA, RI, TN, TX, VT, and
WA: Because these states have higher tax rates than Arizona’s 5.6% transaction privilege tax rate, motor vehicle sales
to nonresidents from these states are subject to Arizona taxes if the nonresident purchaser takes possession of the
vehicle in Arizona. These states will allow a credit for the state tax paid in Arizona when the nonresident registers the
vehicle in his or her home state.

You should get a credit in TX for tax paid according to AZ.
Pick it up and drive it.

Drive it. Some of my favorite road trips were picking up and driving cars home.

I ended having it shipped instead.
reasons:
1. Did not get a 2 day off from work.
2. I decided get the tax credit, which is about 2300, to buy my wife a bag. It also covered shipping and airfare.
3. I was so tired driving 10 hrs, I realized I cannot drive another 10 hr going back. Pics to follow.
