Talking Waitlisted, got told production stops, found last minute allocation ... all in 1 day

(most likely also the longest subject lines in this forum)

Long time reader wanted to say hi!
I had a deposit down at my dealer for a MY2015 GT3 for a while now but was only waitlisted. Today my dealer called me and said that their Porsche NA representative told them that the GT3 production will stop in December so no allocation will be made available past December.
I was really disappointed and talked to a coworker who has good connections to another Porsche dealer in the region. He told me he will ping his sales-guy to see if there is any vacant allocation. Long story short after a very turbulent afternoon I have a December production slot secured and can't wait for February when it will be delivered

Looks very close to my build. Thinking about it again, perhaps I should have gotten the chrono wart instead of rear shell leather. Meh, whatever, probably never use the thing.

Congrats!

Don't feel bad I scratched the wart. I have used it once in my 991S just to play with it. No go item, but got the rest of the bells and whistle finished at 150k

Amazing how many people aren't ordering bucket seats. Given the small number being ordered with them, I still find it amazing (and thankful) that Porsche offers these seats for people that want them.

You bet. I had it just for looks, and it was a waste at 2350.00 because I ordered red gauges, and said not going to just blow cash for looks. Serious I have tried to like the damn thing, but no use for it. I think is over rates and nothing to do with resale.

Various polls, etc. indicate that the car won't be tracked much by the vast majority of buyers (kind of a shame), so maybe unpopularity of the bucket seats makes sense. And if Porsche never even offered a bucket seat for it, their track cred would be ruined and they couldn't call it a GT3 with a straight face.

This is counter to what I've read - Porsche says 80% of GT3's hit the track. Do you have a link?

This is old info. 80% of 997 GT3 owners track their cars.

95% of 991 GT3 owners do cars and coffee. 5% track but only parade laps. That is why I loaded mine up with leather.

Being "used on track" covers a range from one or a few days by a novice track driver, to 50ish days a year by advanced drivers. Polls, posts, etc. suggest that most guys will be towards the lesser end of that range. Don't have a link handy, but there are one or two polls here in RL.
