No more PTS this year?
I'm considering a PTS for a Nov build, but was just informed by the dealer that there is no more capacity for PTS at the factory for this option until next year. I would think Porsche would want to take an additional $5500 if I was willing to spend it.

Yeah my November allocation was pushed to Feb as all the PTS slots were full. I think Porsche batches the PTS orders. Anyway it's only a couple of months delay.

That's my understanding. You put a deposit for an allocation and specs assigned to you and as long as you are agreeable Porsche can move the build date to suit their timetable. I think the PTS builds being done in Nov are probably catch ups from orders affected by the engine issues.

Not my understanding from having gone through this last year. I stood to potentially loose my allocation moving to PTS if a new production period was not yet open to allocation - i.e. I went from having confirmed order to unconfirmed order until they opened up allocation in the date range that PTS was available (around 5 months later than the sot I was already confirmed for). In hindsight Im glad I didn't do it. Apart from the ridiculous cost for a colour that shouldn't really be PTS (in my case Mexico Blue or Carmine Red), I received my car end of November for ED in Europe but if I had have gone PTS I would still be waiting for it a year later...

Gotta go with what your dealer told you.

I finally got my allocation (woo-hoo!) and placed my order with dealer last Saturday. I'm doing PTS (Lichtgrun) and the only thing my dealer said is that it could push back the build date. The allocation is for a December build. They didn't say anything about losing the allocation by going with PTS, just said it could delay it.

Hopefully mine won't get rejected. Like I said, just got placed on Saturday. Dealer knew I was wanting to do PTS. The dealer said they were getting 3 allocations (beside the builds that were scheduled as '14s but got pushed back to '15s). I was first to get one which is scheduled for a December build. Turned in order for PTS. They just said it might push the build date back, but they didn't say I would lose my build. Put my deposit down in August of 2013 so at this point, what's another month or two of waiting to get what I really want. Best of luck to you and I hope you get things worked out. You got me nervous now.

Im trying to order a special wishes car for ed. Heres the response:
PAG has put an ordering stop on paint to sample vehicles from Nov 2014 -
Jan 2015 production months for 991 and 981 Boxster. Unfortunately it isn't
possible to order a paint to sample car for those months. However, it may
be possible to look into Feb 2015 production. White Gold Metallic is not on
the approved list, so it would have to go through the feasibility testing
process. If your customer is still interested, we can ask for further
information from PAG and find out whether they will require a paint sample
or just a paint code.

Extremely frustrating. They have the demand, likely make a decent profit on PTS, advertise all they can do on the website and yet cannot provide the service except intermittently. I certainly won't pass up my allocation because of it, but when spending this kind of money, I'd like to make the car a bit more special and personal.
