The earlier post that mainly reacted to and everyone commented about, including you, was that "the previous generation Z06 will beat the 991 GT3" (post #51). That's why I showed the comparison data for the C6 Z06 and 991 GT3....

the gt3 0-60 is 3 seconds and 0-100 7.1 seconds.
show me the stock z06 that went 0-60 in 2.9 seconds or 0-100 mph in under 7 seconds.
just read your username. lol.

now if you line up the gt3 against the new z06 in a roll rce from say 60-70 km/h... yes the corvette will probably pull ahead. what do you expect they are simiar weight with 150 hp difference! of course the z06 will be faster..
but from 0-60 definitely, and i predict even in 1/4 mile, the gt3 will still be faster than even the new z06.

It is always possible to over power a car with when rear drive only. That is why Porsche is brilliant. They have the Turbo S for bragging rights but that is all it is. An every day Super car that puts up great numbers but it is numb to the passionate. By no means am I discrediting the Turbo; but it is not a driver's car; it is a great accomplishment for its price.

Good post Mike. I'm not much into car stats but when bold proclamations are made it's nice to see numbers in print.

Lets be fair about this.

just because it has 150 more hp doesnt mean it wil lbe able to put it to the road.

It also has a new 8 speed auto that shifts faster than the PDK.
The Z06 will be a 10 second 1/4 mile car.
As for getting the power down on a road course. You checked the Nurburgring times lately, or the Le Man results.
Like I said, and i'll say it again. The Vette may have problems, but being fast isn't one of them.

You do know that the new Z06 has launch control? It also has a new 8 speed auto that shifts faster than the PDK. The Z06 will be a 10 second 1/4 mile car. But...wouldn't you hate an auto even more than a dual clutch transmission?

The above is the sequence of posts that started this discussion. Clearly, the conversation began with a statement that the C6 Z06 was faster than the 991 GT3. You seemed to be agreeing that mainly's objection to that statement was out of line or were wondering why he would say something like that. If you didn't mean to imply that you agreed with the original post, you can at least understand, I hope, how we may have gotten that impression.
Regardless, I'm not being unfair to anyone. Definitive statements were made by at least two posters that the C6 Z06 was faster than the 991 GT3, in one case "by a good margin". Those statements were incorrect. EOS.
