Well I am glad some feel there is at least faint hope. I would have bought a 997 911 Speedster had I been able to get one.

It will be interesting to see if the speedster will get a NA or turbo motor. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a turbo.

997 Speedster and Sport Classic were not based on 997 GT models.

I don't think the speedster will be just the R with speedster body. The speedster is more about cosmetics and limited numbers than special engine/transmission components.
In previous iterations, the speedsters came with nice engines, but not extremely special engines such as the current 4.0L NA in the RS and R.

I don't recall any previous speedsters getting RS engines.
