The best car is the one that you can flog around a race track without thinking about consequences! Drove the 4.0 a lot this summer. It's amazing in every way possible.
The 996rs got driven 30miles. Every time I drive it I compare it to my 996gt3 track car or the 4.0 and it comes up short.
The 996gt3 track car is by far the most enjoyable car I own. Don't have to worry about a little ding or scratch. Change oil and hit rev limiter every time you drive it. Never have to wash it.
To me it all comes down to how much money you are comfortable trashing around a track. Driving cars and thinking about expenses kills the fun.

Couldn't agree more. Owned both and found myself driving the 997.2 GT3 less and less. Decided to let it go. No regrets.

Right, but for me that means beating on a car with warranty and track insurance :-)

I agree the 997 GT cars are s**t dated rolling piles. Nobody wants them and those that have them should get rid of them. Please PM me,I'm a buyer for dirt cheap!

Just wait until .2 GT3 manual. They''ll drop even further than they have in the past 12 months.

Well I drove my 997.2 gt3 last week and I don t really agree with you guys.
such a different machine to the 991 rs. More uncomfortable, so much smaller, less stable, more feeling of what is happening around, so much more fight around the track, incredible sound from the metzger egnine, this manual gearbox. Just love it. At the frontier of vintage and modern. Real fun, still fast.
now the 991 rs is so much faster, brakes so much am harder and more stable, so much more g force, pdk faster.
just a different experience, 991 so fast that it becomes very intoxicating too. Just in a different way.
2 fantastic machines.

just my view !

I just drove my wife's 997 GT3 a bit today. It does feel lightyears older than the 991 GT3, but I still like it, its just different. I find it funny to call a 997 "raw", but that's what it starts to feel like compared to the 991. Then I get in my 964 Cup and laugh and then realize guys in their '73 RS' are laughing at me for raw, etc...

Don't agree either. Very different cars, each with a unique character and enjoyment.

997.2 floods you with feedback and challenges you to get it right to go faster. The Mezger will always be unique and special.

991 GT3RS is just plain bonkers fast and accessible to so many more due to RWS and PDK. Less feedback but still tons overall. SOOO much faster and smooth.

In a perfect world, I'd have both...and a GT4
