2016 Audi R8 v10 plus vs GT3/RS
Has anyone driven the new v10 plus R8 or owns one? If yes, how does it compare to the GT3/RS i know it is all wheel drive and heavier but is it as fun to drive, it is as exciting?
The reason i ask is bec i want an RS but can only do it if i sell my GT3 and would only do it if i can find an allocation or at MSRP but where i live no more allocations, also far from MSRP so i kind of gave up until someone gave me an offer on my car. I explained to him the circumstances that i would sell only if i got an RS and since no RS why would i sell then i was configuring the R8 v10 plus on Audi's website for my country and this car is so well priced!!!
I configured a few and the range is between $180k-186k for 600 hp plus v10 that is a deal! I think in the US they go for $220k about but the $186k was with my exact build that i liked (same pricing i built the RS for but again no allocation) I watched the recent review on MT it says it is faster in 0-60 as well as 1/4 mile than Hurracan on the track in the MT review it was slower than Hurracan but on top gear it was faster than Hurracan on track probably the two tracks are setup differently or maybe it comes with different tires in the US. Either way, i think the car looks great, sounds awesome and is a great deal but i can't find one in my country for test drive
I would hate to sell my 3 then get this and be disappointed with the way it drives. The other issue is here the resale value on these are horrible but i am more about buying a car for the car but still i don't want to lose everything when i sell it either. I wanted to get people's opinions on here who have driven one or own one to shed light on how it compares to driving a 3 or RS.
Sorry for long post but wanted to put a full explanation out there. I love my 3 and would only sell for an RS but R8 v10 plus is such a bargain of a supercar, so i am thinking about it
Feedback much appreciated!

I had the last version of the Plus and traded for my GT3.
World of difference. Both very capable but for different reasons. If you expect track time Audi is fast but heavy. You will need to upgrade pads and brake fluid day one. Factory Audi pads and fluid not up to track duty. Overall GT3 far better track day toy and parts for track duty are either on it day one or easy to find. Not many R8s being tracked regularly so a lot less available as upgrades etc.
R8 far better around town as you can actually drive it in auto mode and it will not be in 6 th gear at 40 MPH.
Bottom line , if a weekend DE car, GT3, if a weekend cruiser with style and fast, R 8 plus.

Even though it is not the latest version, thank you for your feedback still would like to read more views especially on latest version

New R8 still looked and felt very dated to me. I couldn't bring myself to buy one after spending sometime with it.
I know they're turbo charged, but check out a 570S and AMG GT R. I will purchase one or both in the near future.

Test drive one if you can.
I considered a 2015 R8 before going the Porsche route (back then it was a C4S). Just sitting in it in comparison to the 911 told me it was not the car for me, or the one I wanted. Driving it just underscored the point.
Whether it's a good decision for you can only be made after you test drive one.

The AMG GTS is beautiful but is not in the same league as 991 GT3 in terms of performance and no where close next to the R8 v10 plus. Prices between 650 and 700 depending on the options, i would prefer to stick with my GT3 at 600 outperforms it, is NA and redlines to 9,000
Again i am not looking to sell my car unless i can get an RS for MSRP or allocation but that seems near impossible so when i got a good offer on my car the R8 came up in price to be very reasonable. Oh the AMG GTS and 570 S also have horrible resale values here like the Audi R8 does. The GT3 does not have this issue
I can sell then get a .2 Gt3 but do i really want to be with no car for more than 12 months? Normally if it is launched in March 2017 then it will take 6-9 months to come here
For me i just want feedback on the car, you gave me that saying it feels outdated but if that is the case then i prefer to hold onto the GT3. Let me see what others say. Although IPSA said he prefers his GT3 he did say for a weekend cruiser the R8 fits the bill better but on track the GT3 takes the cake
I really wish i can test drive one. Will try doing that once back from vacation but according to my car friends the dealership won't have this car for a test drive

I currently own a 570 S and really like it. It's my first Mclaren and think i will make the jump up to the 675 lt.
the 570s is perfect if you don't track. If you do 575 lt is it.

In terms of price it is way higher than the R8. Local currency the 570S starts at 750k but dealer told me they won't bring one for less than 800k whereas the R8, starts at 640k and i was happy with a build ranging from 680k to 700k which is very reasonable

true. i had a 2014 r8 10 plus and it felt more exotic than the 2104 991 gt3 i owned. I like how the new R8 sounds like hurucans and look great as well. I would try that out if I didn't occasionally track. I bet it hand its own on the track with some adjustments as well

Another vote for 570S. Had a tester for 4 days and it's an f'ing weapon! My god it's fast! It's also nimble, incredibly well made, has a huge sense of occasion with the "billionaire doors" and rides well. Can't see the engine and engine lid doesn't open though...

On the engine side- you can't really see a 911 engine these days either!

I haven't driven the R8, but I do like the sound and looks of the car. It seems that you are really looking into the opportuntity of getting an R8, so why not trading your GT3 for a R8 now and in the near future swapping it to a .2 GT3 or RS? Yes, you will loose some cash, but at least you will experience both worlds. Or just wait for the .2 GT3..

I'm looking forward to where 570 develops further. It would be awesome to have something like a 675LT version of it.
Huracan Superlegerra looks potentially interesting as well, after the 2wd Huracan seems to have addressed some concerns from the original awd version (chances are Superleggera is going to keep building on that).
